Turmeric Ground
Turmeric, with its brilliant yellow color, has been used as a dye, medicine, and flavoring since 600 BC. Turmeric is a necessary ingredient of curry powder. It is extremely difficult to make fresh turmeric powder or paste, as it is extremely hard to grind. Turmeric powder should be kept in an airtight container and stored in a cool dry place. Curcumin, one of the active ingredients in turmeric, induces the flow of bile, which breaks down fats. The dried fruit used both as whole cumin seed and or as powdered form is esteemed as a condiment in most spice eating cultures. Cumin is used as a flavoring agent and an essential component inmany ethnical dishes of Indian Curries, Snacks, Mexican foods, and Latin American cuisines. Cumin Seeds has also been used in ancient medicine of Ayurveda as an ingredient for many digestive formularies. Cumin, a small, annual herbaceous plant of Apiacae family, grows to a height of about 25 cm. The flowers are small with white or pink color in compound umbels form.
